ROOSE Outdoor Education course

By David Mann, Head of Outdoor Education, Lady Lumley’s School.

Lady Lumley’s School are really excited about working in partnership with ROOSE (Ryedale Out Of School Education), delivering an exciting outdoor education course for their students.

ROOSE delivers education to secondary school students from the various secondary schools across Ryedale, offering the students an excellent and varied curriculum.

The course consists of an exciting series of weekly outdoor education sessions, covering mountain biking, navigation, climbing and canoeing and white-water kayaking. Along the way, the students will have the chance to gain BCU paddlesport qualifications and the GEARS mountain biking. This course ultimately leads to the student gaining a BTEC Level 2 qualification, which is excellent to see. Many of the sessions use as a base and explore the beautiful Yorkshire Moors.
